Phoenix Song
Verse 1:
In days before Original Sin,
…It’s hard to tell where our story begins.
In ages untold, & Ages undone,
then just as one’s done, another’s begun.
An immortal bird sees the world spin,
& the youthful become ancient again
This restless heart binds all as one,
with a SPIRIT brighter than the sun.
Within this bird, an energy shines,
Withstanding the torment wrought by time.
Virtue comes to one who’s patient,
Beauty beyond imagination!
With heart that’s true & soul that’s kind,
Reason measured with whimsy & rhyme.
With Self-Destruction comes creation,
through magical regeneration
CHORUS:
Ages to Ages & Metal to Rust,
Ashes to Ashes & Dust to Dust
Do unto others however you must,
Yet your inner fire you must come to trust
Phoenix flies into the night,
this mystic spirit’s soul takes flight,
Spiral up into the light,
While fiery feathers do ignite!
Purple & yellow sparks are bright,
The fire’s red, orange & white.
This transformation’s quite a sight,
Burnt to cinders, without a fight
A luminous egg the SPIRIT catches,
Settling gently into the ashes…
Golden treasure & key, yet no latches
Miraculously the Phoenix hatches!
Verse 2:
This mythical chick Lives LIVES of bliss,
through truth of love, and lovers missed
Mortals on Earth live to love and die,
And with flaming tears, the Phoenix cries.
Reaching the depths of each earthly abyss,
Flying to lands forgotten in the mists.
Phoenix plays and soars on high,
With pixies and sprites, up in the sky.
There’s good & evil in the serpent’s hiss,
And in this bird’s beak, the snake turns & twists.
Through knowledge of life, the phoenix knows why
We cannot give up, and how we must try.
With courage & strength through the horned god’s fist
And all mercy of the Goddess’s kiss,
With a whisper of wind, the Phoenix sighs,
—And beyond the heavens, the Phoenix flies.
CHORUS
Verse 3:
By the wisdom of the wisest sage,
this is one bird you can never cage.
Phoenix must be free to fly & soar,
For past what we see, there’s always more.
Phoenix looks from above, upon life’s stage,
At foolish people & the wars they wage.
What’s the meaning of this pointless war?
What’s the fighting & the killing for?
Some are consumed in a fiery rage,
As history burns another page;
Flying through breezes of living lore,
Such travesties are hard to ignore.
Phoenix grabs Life with a wish to engage,
Sending us all to a divine gold age.
Phoenix opens the door from days of yore,
Then flies to nest on the farthest shore.
CHORUS
